The Southborough History and Art Center has a number of spaces available for individuals or organizations. This charming venue offers a memorable backdrop for weddings, receptions, parties, business meetings, birthday celebrations, and other special occasions. Stroll through the art galleries and exhibit spaces with their hardwood floors, high ceilings, and natural light, enjoying the perfect cultured setting for your event. Ample free parking is included. Event Spaces

The Assembly Room is our largest event space, which accommodates up to 85 people for weddings, showers, mitzvahs, concerts, theater, talks, meetings, receptions, and dinners.

The Long gallery is ideal for receptions for up to 50 people. It is scheduled to host 6-8 week art installations throughout the year.

The Library, with its cosy gas fireplace and view out over the Reservoir, is perfect for small meetings, book clubs, discussion groups, or accommodating a private lunch. The library comfortably accommodates up to 8 people.

The Map Room (23′ x 15′) with its elegant round table will seat 8 for an elegant dinner, or can be used for informal receptions of up to 15 people. It can also be rented in conjunction with the Long Gallery for receptions and cocktail events.

The Makerspace is perfect for children’s birthday parties or activities that require messy materials. Tables can be rolled away or reconfigured as needed.

Rental Fees
Rates are hourly for each space range, dependent on organization status (corporate, private, non-profit) Special discounts also apply for residents and non-profits.
Please note that blocks of time are inclusive of your setup and breakdown.
Multiple spaces may be rented. Rental rates/ranges are as follows, with the low end of the range for non-profits; the middle for resident discount; the upper for non-residents/corporate:
Library: Rental rate range from $50-$150/hour (example: resident book club $50/hr, corporate board meeting $150/hr)
Map Room: Rental rate range from $50-$150/hour (example: resident book club $50/hr, corporate board meeting $150/hr)
Long Gallery: Rental Rate from $150-$250/hr; with map room added $200-$300
Classroom/Makerspace: Rental rate range from $100-$200/hour with a two-hour minimum. (example: Resident birthday party $100/hour, private class offered independent of SHAC, $200/hr).
Assembly Hall: Minimum of five-hour window, including parking: $200-$300hr
Entire Facility: (including all four spaces above): Minimum of five-hour window, including parking: $400 – $500/hour + $250 cleaning fee
Additional Services
The following is not supplied by SHAC and must be organized by the renter:
• Round tables, linens and tableware (The facility has a limited number of folding 3×6′ rectangular tables and chairs for 80.)
• Sound/Lighting Services beyond a podium/screen and single mic suitable for presentations
• Caterers, bartenders, wait staff
• Party planning services
• Decorations – You are welcome to bring in decorations to customize the space. You may affix decorations to the walls only in the Assembly Room, using only damage-free products (i.e. Command strips/hooks). No confetti or glitter or candles with open flames are allowed.
• Wine and beer may be served at private functions provided no charge be made and proper supervision provided; no spirits may be served without the prior authorization of the SHAC.
Deposit
A non-refundable 50% deposit of your rental fee is required at the time of contract signing to guarantee your reservation. The remaining balance, plus any applicable additional fees, is due at the start of your event.
Insurance
One-day rental insurance is required for all multiple space reservations intended for more than 15 people. Please contact us for more information.
Please Note – We are a private nonprofit, and therefore all rentals of our facility are allowed at our sole discretion.
