Making Things Grow Indoors: Terrariums

February 1 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Create Your Own Magical Indoor Landscape!

Ever since terrariums were first discovered in the 19th century by botanist Nathaniel Ward, these miniature worlds have captivated gardeners and nature lovers alike. Inside their glass enclosures, mosses unfurl, ferns spread their delicate fronds, and tiny stones and figurines transform into whole landscapes—self-contained ecosystems that bring a touch of the outdoors inside.

Join Michael Weishan—former PBS host and nationally recognized garden designer—for a fun, hands-on, two-hour seminar all about creating and caring for your own terrarium.

During this interactive workshop, you’ll explore:

  • The fascinating history and science behind terrariums.

  • The best plants and materials to use for lasting beauty.

  • Design techniques to layer soil, moss, and décor for visual impact.

  • Tips and tricks to keep your tiny garden thriving year-round.

What to bring: Your enthusiasm—and a covered, wide-mouth glass container such as this one, or a 10″ (or larger) specialty terrarium container available online.

What we’ll provide: Soil, drainage materials, decorative accents, and a variety of suitable plants available for purchase.

Step into a world in miniature and leave with a living work of art that will refresh your home all year long!

Suitable for ages 12 and up. Limited to 20 participants.
